VCB in the news Monday 13 August, 2012 Since the successful launch of the VCB site at The Alfred on August 10, the Biobank has received some great coverage in the media. An article appeared in The Age that morning where writer Julia Medew highlighted the fact that up until now, very few melanoma samples had been collected from patients due to the difficulty of accessing them through GP clinics, dermatologists and private pathology labs. Launch of The Alfred tissue bank Friday 3 August, 2012 THE ALFRED LAUNCH The Biobank is pleased to announce that Parliamentary Secretary for Health, Nick Wakeling MP, will officially launch The Alfred Tissue Bank on Friday 10th August at The Alfred Hospital. The Alfred Tissue Bank has been operating since January, and Biobank Coordinator Lisa McPhail has so far consented over fifty donors. During this time, Lisa has continued to receive excellent support from researchers and surgeons and in particular has been working closely with the Melbourne Melanoma Project and the Victorian Melanoma Service.
